Orlando Health Breast Cancer Screening Events Launch in August
Doctors say don’t wait until October if you need to get checked
Orlando, FL (August 24, 2026) – Orlando Health hospitals in West Orange and Osceola counties are launching several breast cancer screening events beginning this week, as doctors urge people who are due for mammograms not to wait until October.
“While Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a great time to come together and spread awareness, we want to make sure we’re talking about breast cancer year-round,” said Jeffrey Smith, MD, breast cancer surgeon with the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. “Early detection is so important because it can drastically improve outcomes for our patients.”
Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital, Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital and Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital will hold the following events leading into October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
August 25: Sip & Screen at Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital
September 26: Sip & Screen at Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital (scheduling only)
October 21: Sip & Screen at Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital
During these events, attendees will be able to receive mammograms or sign up for mammograms, while enjoying mocktails and hors d’oeuvres, along with other activities.
“This has been a collaborative effort among our South Region hospitals to offer different events through the late summer and fall to provide additional access to our community,” said Philip Koovakada, senior vice president of Orlando Health and president of Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital. “In partnership with the Orlando Health Cancer Institute, we are committed to providing excellent care, and expanding breast cancer services, in the west Orange and Osceola communities.”
According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
