The interventional cardiology fellowship at Orlando Health Orlando Regional medical Center (OHORMC) is a one-year ACGME approved program designed to prepare the trainee for a career in clinical as well as academic medicine.

This 808-bed hospital in downtown Orlando is the flagship medical center of the Orlando Health system and is ranked on the US News and World Report Top 50 and Becker’s Top 100 Hospital in Heart and Vascular. For more than 100 years, Orlando Health ORMC has provided the most advanced options available for surgical, medical, rehabilitative, and emergency care in Central Florida. Orlando Health ORMC is a state-of-the-art facility that provides an ideal environment for interventional training. The center houses seven modern and fully equipped cardiac catheterization laboratories (two of these are state of the art hybrid suites with open heart capabilities and a third hybrid suite is currently under construction). The annual volume for interventional cardiology services is approximately 1000 coronary interventions, over 300 vascular procedures and over 300 structural heart cases from Board Certified Physicians.

As a tertiary care center with advance technologies trainees can expect to be exposed to all aspects of contemporary interventional cardiology. We provide the complete spectrum of diagnostic tests and non-surgical intervention treatments for patients with heart disease such as congenital heart disease, coronary heart disease, heart valve disease and peripheral artery disease. We have a multidisciplinary approach to disease treatments that includes cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, anesthesia, and radiology under the umbrella of the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute (OHHVI).

Although the ACGME accredited fellowship is geared towards providing an exceptional coronary training, all fellows get good exposure to structural and peripheral vascular interventions. The year includes:

Diagnostic coronary and peripheral angiography
Routine and complex percutaneous coronary intervention
Intra-coronary physiology and imaging
Hemodynamic support
An introduction to peripheral and structural interventions, including valvular, pulmonary vascular, and some adult congenital heart disease.
