Bio
An expert in minimally invasive surgery, Veronica Schimp, DO, is chief of Gynecologic Oncology at Orlando Health Cancer Institute and chair of the Robotics/Minimally Invasive Surgical Quality Committee at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as gynecologic oncology.
Dr. Schimp earned a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Lake Superior State University in Michigan and a doctorate in osteopathy from Michigan State University. She went on to complete residencies in general surgery at St. John/Oakland General Hospital and in obstetrics and gynecology at Hutzel Hospital/Wayne State University, both in Michigan, as well as a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Author of chapters in two medical books, as well as numerous articles and case studies on cancer of the female reproductive organs, Dr. Schimp has presented at more than 50 seminars and conferences. She has received the Patient's Choice Award and America's Top Oncologists Award for several years, and has been named in the Best Doctors in America® and Consumers' Guide to Top Doctors. Dr. Schimp is a member of several organizations, including the International Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Society of Surgical Laparoscopists.
Experienced in performing minimally invasive robotic surgery using the da Vinci® Surgical System, Dr. Schimp is an expert reviewer of other doctors performing robotic surgery through the C-SATS performance review and training program.
