Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma defined by large quantities of abnormal proteins. Your treatment plan will depend on your health and symptoms and may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, plasma exchange and radiation.
If you need immediate care, we may begin with chemotherapy, which attacks the abnormal cells. Immunotherapy can boost your immune system to fight cancer, while a plasma exchange is intended to rid the blood of abnormal protein. We also may perform radiation therapy to kill or shrink the cancer cells while minimizing the effect on other organs. If the cancer is advanced, we may consider a stem cell transplant.
