Pituitary tumors can have wide-ranging effects on your body due to the pituitary gland’s role in hormone production, so treatment requires a multi-disciplinary approach.
Located at the base of the brain, the pituitary gland produces hormones that control other glands in the body. Tumors that grown in or around the pituitary gland may interfere with the function of the thyroid, adrenal glands, kidneys, ovaries, testes and cause vision problems. Pituitary tumors often are benign and successfully treated with surgery and / or radiation. In other cases, medication may be used to inhibit or stop tumor growth.
